Mark Steyn: A Line To Remember

April 25, 2010

This is one reason why I read Kate McMillan. Responding to a reader who points out “if you make joke of prophet Mohamad and draw his picture there is 60% percent some one kill you“, Kate writes:

There’s the difference between an “extremist” and a “moderate”.

The “extremist” is the one with the death threat.

The “moderate” is the one who explains what you’ve done to deserve it.

And so it goes. Geert Wilders lives under 24-hour armed guard because Muslims want to kill him. But he’s the one charged with incitement.

The mainstream media, Yale University Press and Comedy Central now accept that Islamic law applies to believers and infidels alike – at least in terms of representations of Mohammed and tame jokes about him. So what will be the next Islamic prohibition to be universalized? And what makes you think that at Restaurant Sharia you can order à la carte?

from Jihad Watch: Free speech and South Park

Comedy Central submits to Islamic intimidation — now South Park cannot even say the word “Muhammad”

This is why Islamic supremacists issue threats and practice intimidation in the first place: because it works. These Hollywood dhimmis are only making sure that this sort of thing will happen again. an update on this story, and a Free Speech Death Watch Alert: “‘Muhammad’ now a dirty word on ‘South Park,'” from The Hollywood Reporter, April 22 (thanks to Pamela Geller):

Now “South Park” can’t even say the words “Prophet Muhammad.”After last week’s episode of the Comedy Central series sparked a threat (and yes, it was certainly a threat) from a radical Islamic website, the network has cracked-down-for-their-own-good on creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone during last night’s continuation of the show’s storyline.

For those who missed the drama, the show’s 200th episode last week mocked the one “celebrity” that the series has been largely unable to depict, the Prophet Muhammad, who was hidden from view in a bear costume. A U.S.-based website RevolutionMuslim.com then warned Parker and Stone they could end up like Theo Van Gogh (the Dutch filmmaker who was murdered by Muslim extremists after depicting Muhammad on his show) and even posted the address of the show’s production office. The site has since been shut down.

Last night, “South Park” continued the controversial Muhammad storyline, but with a key difference: every instance of the words “Prophet Muhammad” was bleeped out, making the episode practically incomprehensible, especially to anybody who missed the previous week.

The character of Muhammad was once again also hidden from view, covered by a large block labeled “censored.”

A Comedy Central spokesperson confirmed it was the network’s decision to bleep the words….

These cowards are not singular. The collapse of Western will and courage is all around us.

So…Muslims are offended at Mohammad IN A BEAR SUIT??!?!?!?!
